We initially implemented the permissions change for the 5.0 release to enable the new "Share by email" feature. After receiving user feedback about the change and further investigation we are now able to support this new feature without requiring access to the contacts list.

We are finishing up a new build that we hope to release to the market in the next several days. This release will NOT have the permissions change requesting access to contacts' data that the 5.0.1 version did.
